Self-Defense Classes

Self-Defense is a life skill invaluable for all youth, girls and boys alike. There are many ways to help protect our youth from harm. It is of the utmost importance that we teach them to protect themselves from as many threats as possible; physical, social, emotional, and situational. The biggest threat to a young person is usually themselves, therefore Character MUST and WILL be consistently developed. In addition, part of being a complete self-defender is becoming a human weapon, which comes with great responsibility in the athlete and parent alike. Physical aspects of class will include (in order of importance) - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, grappling, flexibility, cardio vascular conditioning, strength, boxing, and kickboxing... a true mix of martial arts. Training the “warrior within” unlocks a confidence that transfers to all sports, including the classroom. Our athletes “learn how to learn” tactically, to maximize the intake and retention of information. Our culture is for EACH athlete to be the “most improved,” EVERY DAY in EVERY WAY. Athletes of all levels are welcome, most importantly beginners. Your child will definitely be challenged, but FUN is also a high priority around here. 

 

Austen Ford is our lead Self-Defense instructor and began his combat sports journey in 2004. While he is a professional fight coach and has even experienced training/cornering fighters in the UFC, his favorite students are youth and he has dedicated his life to youth leadership. Austen has 3 children: Sons Maxxwell 15, Stone 13, and daughter Jeordy 9, all of which have many years of training and competition experience. Austen’s ability to coach youth is second-to-none and he has an immaculate reputation of providing a memorable learning experience each and every class.
